Radar

Radar images are produced by a satellite which actively sends short-wave signals to Earth. The reflection of those signals show texture on the surface. The short-wave radar signals are not hindered by clouds, which enables us to capture data day and night in any surface weather condition.

The reflection pattern is a measure for the texture on the Earth surface. The actual wave-length (L, C, or X band) determines which objects will reflect or get penetrated. Where optical satellites behave like "seeing" do radar satellites compare to "touching". This makes interpreting radar imagery quite an abstract task.

Radar products are often addressed as "SAR imagery". SAT (Synthetic Aperture Radar) is a technique which, by using the hight speed of the satellite, is capable of taking high resolution "pictures".

Selection

Geoserve delivers products from more than 10 different radar satellites. We can advice on the best product to fulfil your information need. We select from the available products based on many criterea, amongst other things: required detail, polarization, cost, availability, speed of delivery, licenses, position accuracy, and more.

Advice

Picking the wrong product for your project can lead to high costs or unusable data. The lowest price for a product does not always lead to the cheapest solution.

Geoserve knows the specifications, the applications and the limitations of products from experience. Our project support can save your organization time and money.
