Optical satellites

Optical satellites take digital photographs. The satellite captures pictures in different spectral bands (say colors) at the same time. Some pictures use made capturing a broad band (pan-chromatic, "grayscale"), where other pictures contain information on a small spectral bands (multi-spectral, "color").

By merging the information from multiple bands into one image, details will show which can get interpreted by humans. Interpretation requires specilized skills.

Clouds will render the image (partially) useless; the success of optical shots cannot be guaranteed beforehand.

Selection

We select from the available products based on many criterea, amongst other things: required resolutions, spectral coverage, cost, availability, speed of delivery, licenses, position accuracy, and more.

Available satellites: high resolution (upto 2m), middle resolution (2-30m), and low resolution (over 30m).

Advice

Picking the wrong product for your project can lead to high costs or unusable data. The lowest price for a product does not always lead to the cheapest solution.
